2018 Fall Semester (August - December)

Through this course I discovered new ways of marketing a company through narrative — particularly through the narrative of their core values and history. In conjunction with daily lessons, separate teams in the class were tasked to work with a local organization and aid them in a marketing project. I worked with the American Academy in Rome to design an interactive webpage to share information about their valuable library. The audience for the site would be academics and scholars seeking to utilize the library for research and learning purposes. We worked closely with the American Academy in Rome to learn their story and strategize a portrayal that worked best for them and their viewers.

Library Map.

My largest task throughout this project was to revamp the map of each floor of the library in order to make it easier to understand and navigate. I greatly enjoyed modernizing the map through color and more visible descriptions.

Library Collection Areas.

As a holding place for each of the Library’s collection areas, I made a table of contents styled graphic for each of the five areas. Our web designer linked each section to the respective collection page.

Timeline.

The Library wanted to include a timeline for those interested in learning more about their history. I wanted to utilize books on a bookshelf as the visual for our timeline. I edited the dates onto the spines and our web designer inserted the information.

Testimonials.

Testimonials from the three types of users — American Academy of Rome librarians and fellows, as well as external scholars — were utilized to highlight aspects important to the core of the AAR Library. The design of the testimonials reflects these core values through bold type and relevant imagery.
